SOLAR PLAYER DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY TEAMS
FACE NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION IN WINTER SHOWCASE
As part of the United States Soccer Federation Player Development Academy Winter Showcase, the Nike International Friendlies are also being conducted. In Saturday’s game against Brazil, the United States team came back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to tie Brazil 1-1. Alfred Koroma, completing his year in residency in Bradenton, Florida, started for the US Men’s U-17 team and played all ninety minutes.
Also in Saturday’s competition, the Solar Player Development Academy teams competed against the Development Academy teams sponsored by the New England Revolution. The Solar 16 team surrendered their lead to finish in a 4-4 draw. The Solar 18 team defeated the Revolution side 1-0. The two Solar teams play the remaining two games in the Winter Showcase on Monday and Tuesday. Solar 18 player Dylan Asher was selected to be part of the ’91-’92 Academy Select Team No. 1 on a squad coached by US U-20 Men’s National Team Head Coach Thomas Rongen.
